The Prophet and Jezebel: Two Voices Fighting for Control

"Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh." ~ James 3:10-12

Many scriptures connect the heart and mouth posture. Matthew 15:18-19 says it is not what we eat that defiles a man, but what comes out of the heart. For out of our hearts proceed evil thoughts. Jeremiah 17:9-10 tells us that our heart will deceive us, for it is desperately wicked.

As children of God, we are commanded to live from the inside out and charged to pay attention to our inner conversation. The Holy Spirit who came to live in us at our moment of salvation is an inward witness of the reality of God's Kingdom. This life is the complete opposite of how we grew up, which is an outward sensitivity.

Prophets are God's MOUTH in the earth. 1 Kings 19 introduces Jezebel's appearance. Elijah, the prophet of God, was just used mightily to announce rain after a 3-year drought, went toe to toe with 450 prophets of Baal, and then outran the chariot down Mt. Carmel. However, after Ahab told his wife Jezebel about what was done, she sent word to him that made him leave town.

This spirit is an opposing voice to God's (1) voice, (2) plan, and (3) Kingdom. This spirit is NOT just in the church, but rules inside all seven mountains; FAMILY, GOVERNMENT, CHURCH, BUSINESS, etc. It carries the trait of manipulation, which is a subtle attack to the mental and emotional side to get what it wants. Manipulation is a witchcraft spirit and behind that door yields no good thing, and it leaves its fruit of destruction over these lands. Jezebel uses manipulation, for her goal is to attempt to sway someone's emotions to get them to act or feel a certain way.

It makes a person feel obligated, compelled, resentful, angry, and pressured to perform for the relationship's sake with no regard for others' feelings. Every person has dealt with manipulation; from childhood, school, the workplace, and your spouse. However, when you begin to come into your purpose, you find yourself struggling to move forward with God, not realizing another opposing voice is IN YOU.

There are two voices inwardly speaking against each other. One voice speaks from your spirit, and the other voice is speaking out of your soul. Your soul carries the memories of all your life's experiences; joy, pain, hurt, trauma, etc.

1 Corinthians 14:32 says, "And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets." This scripture tells us that the prophecy is under the speaker's control. However, if you are not delivered, you can have good intentions to speak what the Lord says, but if your emotions are not subdued, you will release out your emotions, which is Jezebel's plan to disrupt God's agenda.

FREEDOM is always waiting for you to SEIZE moments and EMBRACE the God encounters that He is always releasing. They are not always inside your church services, but at the CROSSROAD of CHOICE. What crossroad? The crossroad where you are faced with a decision to respond by what you KNOW God said, vs. how you FEEL from your emotions inside your soul.

When we allow Holy Spirit to influence our lives, His divine nature manifests inward and outwardly in man's expressions (Galatians 5:22-23). When God is raising His prophet for office, He will take you through a deep inner cleansing because He already knows what lye in you. God is after the voice that will speak contrary to His purpose, that we are unaware of at the start of our journey.

Steps to FREEDOM.

  1. Recognize how she plays out in you and around you through other people, especially those familiar.
  2. Come out of alignment with Jezebel through the daily confessions of your mouth.
  3. Bind the spirit of Jezebel, rebuke and forbid her to operate in your life.
  4. Muzzle her mouth and yield yourself daily to Holy Spirit and His influence and guidance.
  5. Stay AWARE and ALERT because your freedom is on the side of your obedience.
